1908 Thomas Flyer
One of the largest-scale automotive competitions in history, the Great Race covered 22,000 miles from New York City to Paris, in 1908. George Schuster emerged victorious at the helm of this Thomas Flyer, on display at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours as part of the centennial celebration of this epic competition. The car is now in the National Automobile Museum Harrah Collection in Reno, Nev.

The 2019 Lamborghini Asterion Is a 900-Hp Rocket Ship

What It Is
A two-seat hybrid GT christened with the name of the original minotaur from Greek mythology. Why? Because Lambos have to be named after bulls and a minotaur is a hybrid of a man and a bull, which is both clever and better-sounding than LaLamborghini. Why It Matters
Alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder, the Asterion further cements hybrid systems as appropriate kit for future supercars. At the very least, hybridization will be one stopgap Lamborghini employs to postpone its inevitable adoption of boosted and downsized engines.Platform
A modified carbon-fiber Aventador tub with aluminum substructures, front and rear.Powertrain
An Huracán-spec 602-hp 5.2-liter V-10 and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with an integrated motor/generator at the back end, while two electric motors power the front wheels. Combined output is 897 horsepower, and a lithium-ion battery pack in what would otherwise be the transmission tunnel is said to be good for 31 miles with a top speed of 78 mph in EV mode. Wake the gas engine, and the Asterion should hit 60 in a flat three seconds and continue to a top speed of 199 mph. What Might Go Wrong
Since Lambo already has two ultra-exclusive two-seaters, it might separate the Asterion from its powertrain, putting the 900-hp hybrid system into one of its existing supercars. Or it could pair the electric bits with a turbo V-6 or V-8 from sugar-daddy VW's parts bin, to stretch the Asterion down-market and go mano a mano with the Ferrari California. Or it could just not build anything at all like this car. Lambo CEO Stephan Winkelmann initially said that his company would not be building the Asterion, but his lieutenants later backpedaled on that statement. Either way, expect to see the hybrid system in production. R&D chief Maurizio Reggiani has said that a hybrid is his preferred alternative to engines with turbos or fewer cylinders.Estimated Arrival and Price
No earlier than 2018 at a price anywhere from $200,000 for a California-fighting GT to a half a million if Lambo goes with the 900-hp version.

2016 Dodge Viper Gets New Matte Paint Option
2016 Dodge Viper Gets New Matte Paint Option
Dodge is expanding its “1 of 1” Viper Customization Program with a new matte-finish paint option, available in all exclusive “1 of 1” program and standard production colors.
The new matte finish basically doubles Viper’s custom “1 of 1” exterior paint options to 16,000 exterior colors and 48,000 unique strip combinations, which means owners now have more than 50 million unique build configurations to choose from. In addition to matte-finish exterior paint, Viper customers can now choose between satin chrome or satin black badging and fuel filler door for a more sinister appearance.
First seen on the Anodized Carbon Viper special edition model, the matte-finish exterior paint will be offered beginning with the 2016 model year production. Orders for the new matte finish equipped Vipers will open at Dodge dealerships in July.
All 2016 Dodge Viper models are also available with stripes. GT, GTC, GTS and ACR models offer optional “GTS” stripes that run the length of the car from the front to rear fascia. The SRT and GTC models are available with “SRT” stripes on the clamshell hood, roof and rear hatch. Viper GTC and ACR models are available with the ACR center band and driver’s side stripe.
Exterior stripes are offered in Black Venom, Billet Silver, Bright White, Gunmetal Pearl and Adrenaline Red. More hues can be chosen from the custom “1 of 1” color palette. Each “1 of 1” Viper GTC also features a personalized instrument panel badge with the customer’s chosen name, as well as satin chrome or satin black badging and fuel filler door.
To make sure than the “1 of 1” program sticks to its promise of exclusivity, no two customers can order the same configuration, including color, in the same model year.

Fisker Looking To Restart Karma Production In The U.S.A.
Fisker Looking To Restart Karma Production In The U.S.A.A
new and improved Fisker Karma is set to be manufactured in a facility located in Southern California.
It seems that Wanxiang Group Corp, a Chinese auto-parts giant that now owns Fisker Automotive and Technology Group, is looking to restart production of the hybrid sedan in a new factory located in the city of Moreno Valley, California.
The state of the art, 555,670 square-foot plant will be leased by Fisker and will provide 150 job opportunities for the city’s residents. Furthermore, the company also intends to feature a showroom in the facility and provide tours of the car manufacturing process.
After filing for bankruptcy, Fisker was acquired by China’s auto-parts giant - Wanxiang Group Corp - in 2014 for $149.2 million. Since then, the company was constantly determined to re-launch its activity, but always came short due to unforeseen circumstances.
Initially built in Finland, the car-company has decided that the new Karma will be solely manufactured and constructed in U.S. as Jim Taylor, Chief Marketing Officer of Fisker, stated:
“Fisker believes in the quality, work ethic and competitiveness of manufacturing in the USA. California's natural beauty, trend setting, technology, and environmental focus are perfectly aligned with our Karma re-launch.”
Truth be told, the State of California has a history supporting electric cars and this could come as an aid for Fisker’s plan.
The date of the official launch remains unknown, but perhaps by the end of 2016, Karmas will be swarming off the production line. Mind you, Wanxiang initially wanted to resume production of the Karma by the end of 2014 and then again by mid-2015; so, taking this into account, we can't speculate on an exact date, since the company rushes to announce things way too eagerly.

Aston's CEO Presents Mako-Blue Aston Martin DBX Concept
Aston's CEO Presents Mako-Blue Aston Martin DBX Concept
Have you ever wondered how Aston’s luxury GT crossover would look like in a lighter, softer color?
Although we already have confirmation from Aston Martin Lagonda that the DBX will eventually enter series production (possibly in a different form), after seeing some tweets directly from Astons CEO, Andy Palmer, we wish the car would retain its two-door format.
Andy Palmer pointed out at Geneva that the DBX is “not a production-ready sports GT car”, which means there’s a chance that the real deal won’t look anything like this concept.
So, let’s take advantage of the car’s graceful lines while we still can, with a color that really compliments its coupe shape and short-wheel-base. Named “Mako-Blue” the paint-job seems to offer a sense of aristocracy and as the CEO himself stated: “the new colour on the Aston Martin DBX makes the design highlights really pop!”
Well, in contrast with the polished roof-line, it does make the car less serious.
The series production DBX will be probably built in an entirely new facility – in the U.S. – with a £200 million investment ($316 million). It’s not exactly known what it will carry under the hood, but we’re thinking an AMG engine should do the trick.
